What is Same-day delivery?
Delivery completed on the day the order is placed — operationally a promise about cut-off times and capacity, not just a faster van.
Same-day delivery means an order placed today arrives today. The marketing is simple; the operations are a question of cut-offs and capacity.
Two decisions make or break it. The cut-off time is a genuine commitment: orders after it move to tomorrow, and moving the cut-off later without adding capacity is how a fleet becomes systematically late. Capacity has to be reserved rather than assumed — a same-day promise made against a fleet already full at 11am is a promise made with somebody else’s afternoon.
The other requirement is fast assignment. Same-day work does not survive a dispatcher assigning orders in batches every two hours; it needs orders reaching a driver within minutes of being ready, which is what rule-based auto-dispatch is for.
