What is Electronic proof of delivery (ePOD)?
Proof captured digitally at the door — photo, signature, notes, scanned label or one-time code — attached to the order automatically instead of on paper.
Electronic proof of delivery replaces the paper delivery note with a capture on the driver’s phone. The immediate gain is administrative: no folder of slips, no scanning, no lost note, and the evidence is attached to the order the moment it is taken.
The larger gain is what digital capture makes possible. A photo can carry a GPS point and a timestamp. A parcel label can be scanned and checked against the stop. A recipient can read a one-time code from their own phone. None of those are available on paper, and each answers a question a signature cannot.
ePOD is only as good as its enforcement. Proof that a driver can skip when they are in a hurry is proof you will not have on the day you need it.
In PrivateMile: ePOD rules are set per organization — photo, signature with printed name, notes, QR-verified parcels, OTP handoffs — enforced in the app before a stop can be completed, captured offline when there is no signal, and published to the customer’s tracking page.
