PrivateMile vs Detrack: an honest comparison.
Detrack is a widely used tracking and electronic proof-of-delivery tool with straightforward per-vehicle pricing. PrivateMile covers the same ground and adds the dispatch desk around it, priced by order volume. Here is how they compare.
The honest version
Who each one is for.
Both tools run real delivery operations. The difference is what kind of operation, and what you pay as it grows.
Choose PrivateMile if
You want tracking and proof plus the rest of the desk — auto-dispatch rules, route optimization with a review step, predicted-late alerts, cash collection, driver pay and reporting — with drivers and vehicles uncounted in the price.
Choose Detrack if
Vehicle tracking and electronic proof of delivery are the whole requirement, your vehicle count is small and stable, and per-vehicle pricing works out favourably at your size.

Where the two differ most
Where they overlap. Live vehicle tracking, a driver app, electronic proof of delivery and customer notifications are common ground. If that list is the entire requirement, both tools will do it and the decision comes down to price at your vehicle count and how the apps feel to your drivers.
Where PrivateMile goes further. The planning and dispatch side: route optimization you preview and approve, auto-dispatch by rule, predicted-late alerts raised before a window is missed, an AI copilot for the awkward questions, cash and card collection at the door, driver pay computed from completed routes, and cost per vehicle reporting.
The pricing crossover. Per-vehicle pricing is clean and predictable, and it scales linearly with your fleet. Order-volume pricing scales with the business instead. Work out both at the fleet size you expect in twelve months, not the one you have today — that is usually where the two lines cross.
What switching looks like
Most teams run both side by side for a few days on the trial: same orders, same drivers, two boards. Import is a CSV, the driver app installs from the App Store or Google Play, and tracking pages go live with your logo the same day. If something you rely on today is missing here, we would rather tell you before you switch than after.
Pricing
Priced by volume. Never per driver.
Per-driver pricing punishes you for growing. We don’t. Every plan includes all four apps and support — pick by monthly order volume, and scaling your fleet never means renegotiating your stack.
Every plan starts with a 15-day free trial — full access, no card required.

We have more vehicles than order volume. Which model wins?
Order-volume pricing tends to win as vehicle count rises relative to orders — a fleet with many vans running modest volume pays for every van under a per-vehicle model and nothing extra under ours. Run both at your twelve-month numbers.
Can we import our existing customer and address data?
Yes, by CSV up to 2,000 rows per file with a per-row error report. Migration help is included on every plan.
Do you have an API and webhooks?
Yes — a REST API for creating, reading and cancelling orders singly or in batches, with per-client keys, field mappings and outbound webhooks for every delivery event.
